How to pick the best lipstick shade for your skin tone?

Each lady should get one amazing lipstick. Lipstick is an absolute style accessory, similar to a dazzling pair of heels or a wonderful clutch. What’s more, similar to heels or a clutch, there is nothing like ‘the’ perfect lipstick. So, there are numerous perfect lipsticks for each lady.

Thus, it troubles me when makeup specialists quote strict rules: Pick a lipstick two shades darker than your natural tone lipstick, wear this shade if you have this skin tone. Would you restrict yourself in such a manner when choosing a clutch? It’s a complete no. Lipstick is not at all different from other accessories. Deal with it just like others.

There are no such guidelines explaining to you which lip color to pick or not. Consider the following as your framework when you find it difficult to choose one lipstick shade from a whole range of shades.

Do you need a bold or neutral lip shade?

This is the principal question. When picking lipstick, do not start with deciding which color family you prefer most. Try not to begin there. You should start by choosing bold or neutral lip color. Lipsticks fall into two subcategories: bold or neutral. Neutral lipsticks go with the rest of your makeup. Bold lipsticks contrast with the rest of your face. Boldness is the result of the “value” of a lipstick, which is ‘the darkness or lightness of a color.’

Remember that every shade of a color family is not neutral or bold. A specific red lipstick can be neutral, while another red lipstick can be bold. Also, a shade that is neutral on light complexion ladies may also be bold on a lady with a dark complexion. Therefore, your first question should be neutral or bold.

To decide whether you need a neutral or bold lip, first give a thought if you want your makeup to stand out or not? If you don’t, simply go with a neutral lipstick. If yes, go with bold lipstick.

Are you relying on a specific shade for a specific skin tone?

Firstly, you need to let your intuition guide you. Don’t rely on the concepts like you just need to pick some particular shades if you have this skin tone. Get yourself out of this narrowed view and think from a different perspective that some shades compliment certain skin colors.

Obviously, if you decide that lipstick is excessively light or excessively dark for you, you can always have the option to lighten or darken it up.

What matters to you most: lipstick comfort or lipstick longevity?

If you want lipstick having a very good staying power, go with matte lipstick. They are very long-lasting lipsticks. They hold the lips and even leave a slight staining impact that will not easily fall off.

If you want comfortable lipstick, go with creamy or sheer lipstick. Sheer lipsticks are lightweight and normally feel like you are wearing a lip conditioner. You will feel as if you’re wearing nothing on your lips. And creamy lipsticks contain moisture in them to make your lips smooth. These lipsticks are great for people having dry lips.

“Color Payoff” _ The Most Important Question

Shade Payoff is the proportion of how much the lipstick gives color to your lips. An apparently vibrant lipstick may be barely visible when you apply it to your lips. Such a lipstick is said to have no color payoff. Sheer lipsticks have the least shade payoff. But matte lipsticks have the best color payoff. And creamy lipsticks have moderate shade payoff.
